Summer Bodies are made in the Winter

It can be difficult to gather motivation to train on wintry morning and nights when all you want to do is sit with a mug of hot chocolate watching the latest episode of your favourite Netflix series. But did you ever consider that Summer bodies are actually made in the Winter… In this blog I will provide a few hints and tips on how to remain motivated and ready for a workout no matter what the weather.
Don’t get lazy!
When you get home from work instead of changing into pyjamas do the following:
- ・ Put your gym clothes onGet yourself in a positive mindset to achieve your fitness goals
- ・Play your gym playlist before you workout (on the drive home from work/ doing the washing)
・Schedule in what days you’re going to train and ensure you stick to it.
・Even go as far as planning the time, whether it will be before work, during your lunch break or after.
・Set a reminder in your phone for 15 minutes before so you can get yourself ready to smash a good workout.
・Beginner) 20-star jumps, 20-squats, 20-press ups, 1-minute plank.
・Intermediate) 20 tuck jumps, 20 lunges, 20-tricep dips, 1-minute leg raisers, 2-minute plank.
・Advanced) 20 burpees, 20 jump squats, 20 scissor lunges, 20-press ups, 20-press up to plank, 20 mountain climbers, 20-situps, 20-leg raisers, 3-minute plank.
・Get a gym pal that will make your workouts fun, varied and ensure you stay committed as nobody wants to be the one to bail.
Look at your schedules and workout what days and times work best for you both.
It helps to have someone with similar goals and motivations to you as it will encourage you to support each other and increase confidence.
Fail to prepare, prepare to fail
A lack of planning leads to a lack of exercise:
Results take Time
It typically takes 6 weeks to see changes to your body shape and 10 weeks to notice your fitness levels increase. This is why it is so important to start early and get a head start on seeing them changes as they do not occur overnight and after one or two workouts. It takes almost a month to develop a habit, and 3 months to start seeing the beginnings of the body you originally strived for, subject to starting point. If you take into account the odd relapse, mini break, before you know it 4 months has turned into 5 months, your summer holiday is 2 months away and you haven’t started.
If you really cannot get yourself to the gym or a class, you still have no excuse! There are plenty of exercises you can perform from the comfort of your own home. Why not try the below workouts?
