Elemental Fitness Heat Policy 2025
In response to recent Met Office heat warnings and for the health and safety of all our members and staff, Elemental Fitness Ltd has updated its 2023 Heat Policy. Please read carefully to understand how training will be managed during periods of high temperature and humidity.
At Elemental Fitness, the health and safety of our members and staff are our top priorities—especially during periods of high heat. That’s why we’ve developed this Heat Policy to guide how training sessions will be managed when temperatures rise. It’s important to understand that both temperature and humidity play key roles in how our bodies respond to heat. While temperature measures how hot the air is, humidity refers to the amount of moisture in the air. High humidity makes it harder for sweat to evaporate, which reduces the body’s ability to cool down and increases the risk of heat-related illnesses. Together, these factors can significantly impact your comfort and safety during exercise, so our policy adapts training intensity and schedules accordingly.
Temperature Guidelines (Indoor Facility)
All temperature thresholds refer to the temperature inside the facility.
Under 25.9°C (80°F)
Training continues as normal.
Personal training follows individual programmes as planned.
Group classes proceed as scheduled.
Standard cancellation/reschedule terms apply.
26°C to 31.9°C (79°F to 90°F)
Training continues but with caution.
Programmes may be adjusted to lower intensity at the instructor’s discretion.
More frequent water breaks will be encouraged.
Standard cancellation/reschedule terms apply.
32°C to 39.9°C (90°F to 104°F)
High risk of heat-related illness; extreme caution advised.
Personal training and group classes will shift focus to low-intensity activities such as mobility, flexibility, core work, technical skills, and resistance training.
High-intensity cardio, plyometrics, and boot camps will be paused.
More frequent hydration breaks required.
Flexibility on cancellations and reschedules may be granted on a case-by-case basis.
40°C and Above (104°F+)
Facility closure may be enforced for safety.
Training sessions and group classes will be cancelled.
Clients will be contacted and informed accordingly.
Cancellation notices for group classes will be issued by 12:30 pm on the day.
Humidity Considerations
Ideal indoor humidity: 30%–55%.
Humidity above 55% starts to feel sticky; above 65% increases heat stress risk.
Above 65% humidity, training sessions are likely to be cancelled regardless of temperature, due to increased risk of heat illness.
What Members Should Do
Pay attention to your body’s signals during training.
Bring cold water; we provide chilled water as usual.
Consider bringing a towel, wet flannel, or spray bottle to stay cool.
Personal training clients will receive notifications by phone or text if sessions are adjusted or cancelled due to heat.
Group class members will be notified via the app by 12:30 pm on the day of the class.
Subcontractors
Subcontractors working with Elemental Fitness clients will follow this heat policy.
When subcontractors use the facility for their own business clients, they must exercise personal responsibility for safety. Elemental Fitness holds no responsibility for independent activities.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in keeping everyone safe during heatwaves. Stay cool and train smart!
Health regards,
The Elemental Fitness Team
