It was over year ago now that Rich approached me for personal training with the goal of shedding body fat and building muscle and strength. Rich had fallen into a busy life of balancing family and work in the week and indulging in pints and unhealthy food at the weekends. With little to no exercise, Rich’s weight piled on and he began to feel unfit and unhappy with how he looked and noticed his clothes were getting a little tight! He realised it was time to make some positive changes for his own wellbeing and to save him buying himself a new wardrobe of clothes!

After an initial induction discussing Rich’s goals we decided the best course of action was to get him into a resistance training routine which would help him build muscle and strength while reducing bodyfat. Rich added cardio sessions in his own time to speed up his fat loss.

Rich has trained consistently with me for over a year now and we have seen some great results. It hasn’t always been easy and there have been ups and downs, and Rich will be the first to admit, sticking to a clean diet and finding the motivation to workout after a tough day at work while maintaining a busy lifestyle has been challenging. Rich occasionally falters on the diet front, which he knows will slow his progress towards his goals but is working hard to improve his diet.

When Rich began training with me he was 100kg, he is now down to 90kg. His body fat has reduced from 35% to 24%. In terms of strength his back squat has increased from 40kg to 70kg and his bench press from 35kg to 60kg. Huge improvements! I have also seen big improvements in his cardiovascular fitness, I have to work him much harder these days to tire him out!

Rich is now happy with where he is in regard to muscle and strength so we have changed his sessions up to put more focus on fat loss. Working high intensity barbell and kettlebell complexes to help him shift the remaining body fat while maintaining muscle mass and strength.

Rich is aware that hard work and consistency are the keys to reaching his fitness goals, and reaching these goals does not happen over night. He continues to train solidly and I have no doubt that we will reach his goals!

Rich feels much better in himself while training consistently. His training has become habit and an integral part of his lifestyle. People often make positive comments on his physical appearance and he is able to fit into shirts that he thought he was going to have to throw away, so no longer has to worry about buying that new wardrobe!
